The Trump Taj, Atlantic City

Details:
Trump Taj
1000 Boardwalk at Virginia Avenue
Atlantic City, NJ 08401
For more information call: (609) 449-1000

Not all of the Trump properties in AC have poker rooms. I stayed in the Trump Marina once, and although it was a very nice place to lay my head, you had to wander down the road to get any poker action.

The Trump Taj however, does have a poker room. And what a poker room! With approximately 160 regular tables and 520 tournament tables, the Taj Mahal has the largest poker room in Atlantic City (according to wikipedia).

The room runs several tournaments every day of the week, Saturdays and Sundays included. Buy-ins differ from tournament to tournament, but stay under $100.

The games being spread at the Taj include holdem, 7 stud, and omaha. There are hi-lo games taking place on most days as well.

Here's something interesting, in order to help ease the nerves of players who are either curious about playing poker, or perhaps new to playing poker in the setting of a casino, the Taj offers free poker instruction!

Non-value poker chips are used during instructional lessons so there is no risk. That's a play money table, at a brick and mortar casino!

The room is located on the ground floor of the casino, and is closed in by glass. That way the slots noise won't wander through and disrupt the tables. The room also houses the horse-betting and keno operations of the taj. So, it can be a bit lively from time to time.

If you're looking for action at off-peak hours, definitely consider the Taj. I've wandered past the room at 3 am on a Wednesday morning to find plenty of card players happily involved in their games.
