Heads Up Poker Tournaments

Heads up poker is poker played by two players, one on one. Every poker tournament ends up in a head to head match.

Players who often find it easy to be patient and outlast tens or hundreds of players in a large multi-table tourament can find that playing face up is more than they can handle. Cards that are trash against even a short table, are favorites when playing heads up.

And, since at the heads up table there is one opponent, bluffing and reading your foe takes on a whole new significance. There is only one player to read. There is only one player whose tendancies need to be studied, and eventually exploited.

Heads up, you play nearly every hand. It's an action junkie's dream. Those raised on videogames or born to bluff take to heads up play. And now, several of the online poker rooms are offering heads up tournament style poker.

On the prima poker network, rooms like Royal Vegas, Crazy Vegas, and Poker Rewards are working together to host heads up poker tournaments. They offer one on one play, where the winner takes the whole prize pool (which makes sense).

They also offer four man heads up tournaments and sixteen man tournaments as well. Each player plays one opponent at a time, until they stand alone as the winner. And, the winner takes the entire prize purse. Pay at $10 entry fee, win four straight and take home $160. Not bad.

Heads up poker takes it's own brand of skills to win, chief amoung them courage. It also takes a keen eye that can pick up your opponents online tells and tendancies. The game is fast, and full of action. And of course it's good practice for those times when you play your way through a large number of opponents in a traditional tournament. Up until now heads up time has been hard to come by, and expensive for those who are inexperienced.

Buy-ins start at a buck. Have fun.
