Golden Tiger Poker Review
Golden Tiger Poker is a poker room on the prima poker network.
Date: January 31, 2006:
Like many of the prima rooms, Golden Tiger Poker is an offshoot of a successful online casino. At first they brought in Lee Jones, the author of "Winning Low Limit Holdem" in as a resident pro/poker room manager. But, things never really took off for the room, and Lee left Golden Tiger to work with some obscure online poker outfit. I think they're called "PokerStars" or something like that. Nobody's ever heard of them I bet.
I've played at Golden Tiger, and I've never had a problem with a cashout or a deposit, with a bonus, or with anything really. Still, there is nothing special about the room at all, just another of the prima clones. If you're wondering if it's safe to play there, I never had any issues. If your'e wondering if it's the best poker room online, the answer is no, not even close.
The room has offered different promotions in the past, so check their website to see what the current offer is. You can expect some sort of welcome bonus from them.
The software is the prima software, so you'll find things like the ability to write player notes, and to see player profiles. There is a large chat box that accomodates several conversations at the same time. There is a session stats section at each table, so you can see what percentage of the flops you've seen, where you've folded hands (at the turn, at the river?), and what percentage of the showdowns you've won over the course of the session.
There are low-low limit games, so if you're looking for a room that offers dime and quarter poker, Golden Tiger Poker fits the bill. They also have promotions running, like a bad beat jackpot, or their magic hand promo.
Being part of the prima network, you can expect that they will host satellite tournametns to all of the major land-based poker events, especially those in Europe. There are also plenty of guaranteed money events for the tournament players.
Overall, there is no reason to not play at Golden Tiger Poker, but there is no compelling reason to play there instead of any other room.
