Golden Riviera Poker Review

Golden Riveira is a successful online casino powered by Microgaming. When online poker started taking shape, the casino opened a poker room, appropriately named Golden Riviera Poker on the prima poker network.

Golden Riviera Poker has earned the eCogra Seal of Approval

Update: - as of April 24th, 2007, this review is regarded as out of date, is Golden Riviera is scheduled for a new review.

     Golden Riviera
appears to be a stock, "out of the box" prima poker room. I'm looking at the homepage right now, and it's filled with stock poker images that any poker player can see don't fit together. Kindof a mix between some holdem pictures and some five card draw pictures. It just doesn't look sincere.

The room runs on the prima poker network, so players have access to any network-wide promotions which usually includes some good stuff. Prima runs satellites to major land-based events, including Professional European tournaments. They also throw money into guaranteed prize pool tournaments and freerolls on a regular basis.

You can expect the same set of features at all of the prima rooms. This includes basics like note-taking abilites, and multi-table play. They also offer session stats, so you can see things like the percentage of flops you've seen during your current session.

Where rooms that are part of a network have the chance to shine is in things like their website, the promotions they offer, and their customer service. Some poker room websites are filled with strategy articles, or as they tend to call them, "poker schools". They have player forums where the players can interact with each other, and also those who are responsible for running the games.

Some rooms have player rewards programs where time spent at the tables turns into points that can be traded in for books/dvd's/logowear or other merchandise.

These are the kinds of things that Golden Riviera doesn't do.

I have played at the room, and never had any trouble with deposits or cash-outs. I don't expect that you would have any trouble either. But, with all of the player rewards and the obvious efforts that the better poker rooms put into their programs, I can't say Golden Riviera is one of the better choices you can make when looking for an online poker room.
